Applications to exhibit in the MARS gallery on theGRID: hybrid arts collective, are open now.

Subsidies exist for successful applications received by close of business on or before Friday, March 30, 2012.

Exhibitions granted subsidies must open between March 2012 and June 2013.

FUTURE: an exploration of tomorrow opened with about 200 people popping in to check out the works of all 16 artists plus live art, vinyl DJ, didg and dancers …

The show will hang upstairs @ metro cafe & events, 15 railway st Toowoomba until early September.

 MARS resident artists will feature in our four themed, seasonal exhibitions for 2011 alongside Toowoomba’s freshest emerging talents.

‘Future: an exploration of tomorrow’ opens 6pm Thursday June 9 with live music, vinyl DJ, installation works, video and stop-motion works, 13 artists, live art and full dinner and bar service.

We’ll also be presenting the futuristic invention of local inventor, Lloyd Linson Smith.

Entry is free, the artwork is usually awesome and the whole night is like a child-friendly showcase of Toowoomba’s closet awesomes…

Our first show for 2011, PLAY: an exploration of youth, opened on Thursday March 17 upstairs at Metro Cafe.

Resident artist Ian McCallum was the live artist, Ukelele player Jeff Burton entertained as did dancers from theGRID and Dance Central. A treasure island installation was provided for children by local arts business, The Artsorted Worx in Gardentown, and Damien Kamholtz publicly screened his promo stop-motion clip ‘More than You’.

We had a great night and are excited for our next themed exhibition, set to open 6pm June 9.
